Norfolk Machine Knitter's Club

Knitters supporting Knitters

A community of machine knitters interested in sharing and supporting their mutual interest in the love of machine knitting.

We need you!

We’re strugling to get new members. Let’s get the word out, and make this club a success.

We’ve got a great location, and interesting and informative content. What we don’t have are warm seats in the chairs.

Our friends at the Burlington Machine Knitter’s Guild will be hosing a “Summer Knit-a-long” event in June. The event will be held in our own lovely Grace United Church, in Port Dover. Early tickets sales will be made available to the Norfolk Machine Knitters Club, until April 30, then are made available to the general public after that date. Tickets are $15. Details are in the attached document.

THE BURLINGTON MACHINE KNITTERS GUILD-Knit along

We had some great items for show and tell at April’s meeting.

One presentation was of the Izzy dolls. We’ve decided to do a 2 part demo on how to make them a little later in the year. Both demos will be by JoAnne Scott

Part one will be how to knit the basic shape.

Part 2 will be how to stuff, sew and finish a doll.

We also say a cute little Easter toy (egg hiding spot). They are called “Surprise Chicks”. The link with instructions is here: http://knittenbuds.com/free-pattern-chicks.html

Finally; A nice pair of Fingering Weight Bed Slippers (which would be equally great as guest slippers for the front hall).  The video link for instructions is here (note: in Russian. You’ll want to turn on English subtitles….unles, of course, your Russian is good): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Fg6OANqXS0

April’s demonstration was Ben showing us how to repair/replace an old, flattened sponge bar. Very informative and anyone can do it (Obviously; Ben did it). Instructions can be found on the “Members Only” page.

May’s demonstration could be a surprise.

At this time nobody has vollunteered, so Ben may have to step up again. I’ll get back to you on what you might expect.

Ben

Please note that although the first two meetings allowed for all attendees to be guests, future meetings will require that you be a paid member, unless this is your first meeting.
